i bit the bullet and put it in the boat... i just kept teling myself that it was too much money to only use in the winter...

i do love the unit...it is taking a little while to dial in but def. worth the cost of the ducer...

I added the high speed transom ducer and it's pretty sweet. The 2d sonar is as good or better than my humminbird 798. Now i have more real estate for sonar, side image and map. Well worth the money in my opinion. Have it mounted on a ram mount.

This weekend on Winnie I used my Vex. I have a tiller, so I tied it down next to me and dropped the puck down by my feet which had a little standing water. Shot right through the hull. I was able to find drop offs with it, holes, bars, whatever. All I needed to know was depth and it worked for that. Even when tooling across the lake, as long as it stayed upright, I got a reading. I used it to troll and keep in the right depth all weekend long.

Slid my lake map underneath it, I was golden.

When you mount the unit on your boat be sure to use the rubber washers with the gimbal knobs.

This prevents water getting into the unit if it is raining or a wave comes over the bow.

Mine has been pretty awesome thus far. Amazing graphics, I like being able to switch from black and white to color. The screen is super bright at nice you have to turn it down to avoid bugs.

It is a smaller cone and I do like that what I see is right below the boat. Very sensitive though.

My sensitivity was 22. Max ping speed.

Overall happy with it being a dual function unit.
