Darter Jigs for Plastic Minnows

I've always used mimic minnow darters in the past for plastic minnows, but you can't find them anymore, and frankly, they're kind of a ripoff. Are there any others that are similar to the mimic minnow?

There are all kinds of different jigheads out there that can be used. Northland makes some jigheads with a metal retainer hook for plastics, bfishin makes some nice jigs for plastics as well. If you are looking specifically at the mimic minnow type heads I have seen those in the Northland bulk tackle area at some bait shops. I typically use paddle tail bodies on the northland jigheads. I believe they are a 1/0 hook which allows me to fish the 3&4 inch shad bodied paddletails. The heads are 3 for 299 and the shad bodies are usually about 4 bbucks for a dozen or so.

So you were able to find the northland mimic minnow jig heads... I haven't seen any in my area yet this year. I was actually considering trying to pour my own. And those northland/impulse paddle tails are nice! Caught a 28 and 29"er using the 4" on wednesday night, hence my motivation to find more jig heads to pair them with.

Gander here in Flake carries them but I have seen them on numerous occasions at other stores around the state. I assume you are looking for the swim bait head with the line tie on the top but if your up to trying other heads look through the bassing section of your local store and check out some of the plastics jigs they have. They tend to have larger and longer hooks that really accommodate the larger plastics nicely. Wow with fish like those you caught, I can see why you don't want to change anything.

Vitreus-check the man's mall west of town-I think I saw them a couple weeks ago when I was there. Otherwise the sports store in the mall has some of the b-fish-n ones with the plastics holder. I picked up some of those yesterday. They were in the aisle with the plastics not by the other jigs.
