Kind of quite here so I thought I would share one more that I just finished up with. It is a Rainshadow XSB822.5. This was my first using the Fuji KR Concept working with micro guides and such. It was a little challenging for the first time, but I will definitely be doing more of them.

Is that a tiger wrap in front of your butt wrap? What thread did you use on this one?

If you're referring to the alternating red and white in the middle of the red section, no would be my answer for a tiger wrap. It is just that, red and white wound side-by-side for a number of wraps and then the white tied off and continued on with the red. The red is Coats & Clark, Atom Red and the white is Pro Wrap NCP.

Also, when using that thread it seems to have a lot of frays or small strands coming off of the thread that I can only see when the wrap is on the rod. Do you have this issue too?

The 3" section is a decal that has thread bands on each end.

I haven't had an issue using Coats & Clark thread on the guides. You are right that there might be some frays on the thread, but it doesn't really play when finishing with Flexcoat. I use several coats of CP on all threads prior to using Flexcoat. I know when using C&C thread that it packs really well and the color-fast threads that I've been using have a coating that doesn't provide the same appearance (to me). I think the coating contains the frays so you don't see them, but that doesn't mean they aren't there.

I see you're going to Rainy in a couple of weeks, where do you stay and for how long are you there? We make a trek north to Rainy in July for three weeks, but I should would like to make it up there lone before then.

I always stay at Woody's resort.

I typically go upfor 4-5 days over Memorial weekend.

leaving this week on Thursday and it cannot come fast enough.

The bite for us has always been awesome and I expect the same this weekend.

Woody has put me on many nice fish over the years and as always, if I run into a issue locating fish, Woody is always there to show me a few new spots.

I would not miss my Memorial weeknd trip for anything as it is the highlight of my entire open water season. Beautiful scenery and the fishing to me, is second to none.

Whats the advantage of having such small/narrow guides? Dont you get a lot of line slap off that 1st guide?

The guide design and layout was done using Fuji's KR Concept guides and layout. The design is based on the reel geometry. It looks at the reel height and angle of the reel shaft. From there they calculate the choke point and provide you with a starting point in guide size and location. From the choke point to the rod tip you use "micro" guides. Once you have the guides temporally mounted you test cast the rod and see if any further adjustments may be needed by tweaking a guide or two in one direction or the other. The guides are design to control the line coils coming from the reel and quickly moves the line to the rod while straighten the line to flow through the guides more easily. This was the second time that I've used them and I'm impressed each time.

Right on. Do a search on y tube for Fuji KR Concept.

Fuji did some good engineering and high speed video on this project. Many of us have been using the 20, 12, 5 high frames for years, but Fuji really put some design time into it and made it easier for the average joe by publishing spacing charts that are very good.

      got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out

      we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
