Saffer
Any one know if Big Butternut is ice free?
Walleye Guy
I don't have a Big Butternut update for you but here is what I know about ice in the area. I have a place on the north end of Big Round. 70% of the lake is covered with ice. The north side is where the open water is due to the north wind. I would guess the ice will go out Sunday or Monday. Deer lake is pretty much locked up shore to shore. On Balsam, some of the bays were open and the ice has pulled away from the shore 10-100 ft in many areas. I drove by the north end of Bone Lake and that was mostly locked up. I am guessing that ice will last well into next week.I would guess BB is close to what Big Round is given its depth and shape. Shu
I drove by BB around 2:00 and the majority still has ice. Little Butternut is ice free.

Nick Kuhn
Horseshoe was about 50% ice covered late Sunday. I would imagine if it didn't all go today it will tomorrow.
