the time are they at least 2.5 years old? I know the DNR when registering asks for jake or adult?

I would think jakes are capable of breeding, but no real knowledge on my part?

What is the weight of a average jake shot in the fall?

I popped one this year. Weighed 15.8 on my digital fish scale.

I got a jake this year also and mine was about 16.5 pounds.Lot of adults run maybe 22-26 pounds,so I assume maybe after one more year of growth, weight gain must really drop off?

Also I wonder still are jakes fully capable of breeding?

To answer your question. I believe they are capable of breeding, but more than likely the hens will shun them and the adult toms would kick their arse if they tried.

Male wild turkeys reach sexual maturity around 10 months, which is about the age of most Jakes (at least here in the midwest)

So they can breed if they get a chance, but like DonBo said they may not get the opportunity.

Over the last 30+ years I've taken Jakes that ranged from as little as 12 pounds to 19.5 pounds. Most seem to be in the 15/16 pound range. My smallest adult Tom was 18 pounds and largest 26 pounds.
