How do you keep your worms? Bins?

I hope this is a decent category to post.

I was wondering how you guys save your worms or grow your worms in bins or wire mesh. I did do a google search but it was mainly composting and having multiple levels of tubs, and not necessarily fishing related, per se.

Any cool ideas?

Nothing special here....just in the "bait fridge" in the garage, in either the styrofoam containers they come in or a tupperware.

whatever plastic container i have laying around (yogurt, ice cream bucket, etc) worm bedding & feed used coffee grounds in garage fridge....always have, always will

I have a small fridge in the garage and my crawlers go into on of those store bought containers and I use that fluffy moss you find in dark, moist, pine forest floor.

They love it

I buy a few flats throughout the year, they go in the fridge. They require a little moistening every now and then.

Sorry. What I failed to explain is that my cold beer temps are way too cold for storage of night crawlers and worms. Not only will a container freeze once and a while if I have it on the top shelve where the cold air enters from the freezer- it only takes ONE crawler/worm to freeze/die in that container and then the whole works is belly up in a hurry and STINK! Man o man can it stink. Because I don't have a bait fridge AND a beer fridge I put my cralwers on the basement floor in a large syrofoam box w/lid. You really just need to keep them 'cool' not really needed to refridgerate especially if you are storing them for long periods of time- they just can't get warm/hot obviously. Dark, cool, moist.

You do realize that the temperature of "Ice cold beer" is below freezing right? ;-)

The dorm fridge that is my indoor beer fridge also keeps crawlers during open water. They've last months without going bad at "beer" temps. I just use a glad tupperware container with a bunch of pinholes punched into the top for air

sorry, no, how do u drink ice cold "frozen" beer?

unless your drinking mega macro brand mostly H2o beer then there is enough alcohol to drop the freeze point to below 32*f at sea level . I suspect the final gravity and isomerized hop oils play a role as well

Holy smokes some of you guys like to argue about stupid s**t- I simply tried to tell the guy not to have the fridge too cold or they freeze and die. And, that you don't NEED a fridge to successfully store crawlers for a long period of time. Both facts. Do you have something to add and help him out or just want to P&M like little girls for another page?
