Feeding Approach with your Dogs?

Hey all-

I have a Chocolate Lab, turned 2 on New years day.

I've always fed her 2x per day, in the morning and in the evening.

At what age can I back it off to feeding once a day, and when this happens- do I just double the amount of food and give her the total of what she would have had in a given day previously? If not- what do you guys do as far as 'amounts' go with your dogs?

2 year old, Female, Chocolate Lab, Average Activity Level, Very healthy weight right now.

Feeding: Nutro Natural Choice, Large Breed Adult, Lamb Meal & Rice

Thanks!

You re gonna get a hundred different responses... But do what works best for you dog.

Mine all go to once a day at about a year... 3 cups at 6 pm. Never had an overweight dog in 30 years of having my own dogs...

Good luck!

I know that one guy mentioned that he does 3 cups-

I'm guessing that during the hunting season / by discretion everyone adds a bit- but in general, are most guys at 3 cups daily on average amount?

Supplement your dog{s} food with meatcraps, eggs, fish, fowl, eggs,etc....If you do this in a couple weeks you will notice a better coat , muscle tone, bright eyes....Often table scraps will do....Ask any sled dog owners or grey hound kennels, or most any competitive dog owners....If you want the best performance from your dog dry foods don't cut it.

As far as quantity, start by doing the recommended amount on the bag, then let the dog be the guide, if they're getting fat, cut back, getting skinny, give more.

Amount of exercise and age will make a difference too. During hunting season mine get more.

I've always fed twice a day, when they get out of the kennel morning and evening, they get fed. Works for me.
