I just got a new rod and reel on saturday and I am dreaming of warm sunny summer days, and bass fishing. I am wondering what are some lakes in the DL area that produces lots of bass. Both large or brownines. I dont descriminate, I just like to catch fish.

Thanks guys.

For smallmouth, research Lida, Lizzie, Big Cormorant, White Earth and Juggler. Just about any lake in the area is good for largemouth, but look into Tamarac, Beers, Dead, Star, Franklin, and lower Lizzie. There are a ton of out of the way smaller lakes that get little to no pressure that might hold a suprise lunker or two.

Cicada game you some good leads, but honestly, there are very few lakes in the area where the bass fishing isn't at least decent. The size average on some lakes can be absurd. Really a great area and most of the bass are underfished.

throw a dart at a map of the area. You're in god's country around there for bass buddy you cant really go wrong. I would find a lake that suits your style of fishing well and learn the heck out of it. I fish a private access lake in the DL area two years ago and OH MY GOD the pike pannies and bass were alll huuuuummmmungous

Every year before I come up, I spend a lot of time on Google Earth looking at lakes all around the area I'll be fishing. I note which lakes have lily pads, which ones have lots of cuts and coves (good for windy days), which ones are highly developed, and you can even see structure on some lakes. Combine that with the DNR's lake finder, and you can learn a ton about a lake before your boat even touches the water.

Consider Middle Floyd (some call it Mud) couple miles N of DL. Big Largemouth in there and and you can cover the whole lake pretty easily. Access on sw corner of Big Floyd then go across to the NE and go through channel marked buy buoys into Mud. Good for bass opener...as temps warm up gets too weedy IMO.
