A Day in the Bog

We spent yesterday & today in the Bog, beautiful weather & we saw a lot of birds. I got my first Owl! A Boreal Owl, I was so excited, we came upon another photographer on Arkola Rd about 1 mile down from Owl Avenue. Lots of variety in birds both days & we saw lots of birders/photographers out enjoying the nice weather.

If I get any of these name wrongs, please let me know, still learning...

This is a zoomed in shot, lots of red on this bird...Could not identify. Saw this at the Owl Ave. feeders at the bend...Can anyone help me identify by this shot. Sorry it's not a good one, he was high up in a tree.

Looks like you had a very successful day in the bog with some very nice captures. The last shot is more than likely a male Pine Grosbeak. Here is a closer look at one I took a few years ago.

Jim, that look like it must have been it. A lot of Red, but like I said it was so far up in a tree I didn't get a close look. Just took a shot to try to identify it. Thank you!

Very nice pictures! I was also in the bog on Sat. It was a beautiful day to be there. I saw the same boreal owl and two hawk owls. The boreal owl was vey accommodating.
