Looking for a new SLate Call

I am looking for a good slate call for this spring. I was wondering if any of you have a favorite so that I can go get one and practice some before the season. Thanks much!

You'll get a different response from everyone on this, but here's mine:

I have several and never felt really comfortable with any untill I got a "Pro Custom Glass" from "Cane Creek Calls". It's now my favorite of all the calls I carry. You'll probably have to do a web search as won't find this at Fleet Farm.

I've bought two customs... I kind of like one and the other is a no go. Problem with them is unless you run into them at a show or something, it is hard to try one out... I love custom stuff if you can find one that fits you! I really believe it makes you stand out when calling, and gives you more confidence...

Over the counter calls... I have two I constantly go back to, just because I have made many many jelly heads with them... The Black Widow and the Power Crystal...

i am still searching for that 'one' custom call that is always my go to. I am going to check out Cane Creek calls... if DonBo say s they are good... they are good!

Thanks guys! I will do a web search for them. I don't remember what my old call was I let my dad use it and now it is gone.

I have had good luck with one called the TRIPLE THREAT by Quaker I think. It has 3 different surfaces on one call.Slate,aluminum and acrylic.Can make different sounding yelps with one call. Fairly inexpensive too. Good Luck DrJ.....

dont know what you are looking to spend, moose, but you should give woodhaven calls a look.

i picked up one of their glass calls a few years ago and since have added slate and crystal calls. they are the best sounding calls i have run and have been killer in the turkey woods the past several years.

WH calls are used by a lot of competition callers.

if you look around, you can find them cheaper than on the WH HSOforum.

Robert brothers is the slate call i have. I really like it. it has glass on the front, slate on the back. but all the ones mention above i bet will do just fine.
