lispeej
I'm getting the garmin upper midwest lake sd card and looking to see how accurate it has been for folks that have used it.Thanks.
Blackhawkxp
The lakes i have been on it has been pretty good. The lake levels are so low on a few of the lakes that it would be off a couple feet on depth but usually got me close to where i wanted to be. I like the fact that it includes almost all of the lakes in the region and quite a few that i fish are in HD 1 foot increments. I do think $99.00 is plenty for maps after dumping the coin for the gps but that is the way it is. I would definitely recomend the midwest map chip. Lund79
I am interested in this as well. I have been looking over the past 2 years at all the other options and it looks like you get a lot more with this chip than Nav or LM maps. MN Mike
I don't hit a lot of different lakes but the accuracy has been very good for what I've used it for, more than happy with it. Hopefully I'll get a chance to use it out on Leech in a few weeks.Mike

mainbutter
It puts me on structure wonderfully, but as mentioned the depth levels of the lakes are highly variable due to precipitation, so its depth levels are "precise" but not always "accurate", due to circumstances that have nothing to do with the map-making process.Overall extremely happy with this map to go with my etrex 20. lispeej
Alright,So my card came in today and I put into my garmin nuvi 350. Dumb question, but how do you use the card and its features? I have in it my car garmin gps. I looked online at garmins HSOforum and it said it was compatible with my unit. So, does anyone else use this with their car gps as well? MN Mike
Make sure the Nuvi has the latest updates, easy to do, get a free account at my.garmin, register your product, download the browser plugin and it will update your Nuvi if it's needed.I don't know much about the 350, normally when you drop the card in the Nuvi it puts the data on the map, sometimes you have to zoom in to start seeing detail. You should also make sure the map data is turned on ( checkmarked ) you can do that in the menu somewhere, best to download the manual from Garmin's site, look for MAP DATA or ( MAP INFO ) something like that.I have a Nuvi 250 and a 1450lmt, works great in both.Mike
lispeej
MN Mike. My nuvi 350 does have the latest firmware update. When I go to the settings, it does read the chip and is checked. I guess I'm just trying to figure this chip out. I thought I was able to do a search by lakes? Maybe not?And as for details, do I not see them until I am on the water and zoomed in or what? I'm kinda confused because I've never had a handheld, and don't know how the car gps and the chip will interfere with eachother.
lispeej
Ok. I think I got it to work now. You can only use one map feature at a time. You have to turn off the car gps mode in order to see the lake depths and such.
