Pork Chop Ideas

I'm always a fan of seasoning them with some Lawrey's, giving them a quick sear in butter (do not cook them all the way through - maybe just a minute per side). Then put them in a baking dish, pour the leftover butter from the pan over them and spread Cream of Mushroom soup (right out the can-no water added) all over them. If you have a lot of chops, use two cans. Make sure they're good and covered. Cover with foil and bake at 350 for 1/2 hour (thicker chops go 40-45 min.). Serve over rice with some corn or green beans on the side. One of my favorite winter meals and it couldn't be easier.

Easy one to make:

Make a thin egg wash

crush a sleeve of crackers, I like Ritz.

Season pork chops w/ garlic powder, salt and pepper dip in egg wash

roll in crushed crackers, coat well

fry in a oil in skillet to brown both sides, reduce to low

cut up half an onion and some fresh mushrooms put in skillet with chops

one can of crm of mushroom and one can crm of chik soup (do not reduce)

cover and simmer or place in oven (oven proof skillet) at 350 for an hour. Makes it own gravy... and pork chops will be moist and tender

Serve with mashed potatoes

Good Luck!

Ken

I do this too, but add the green beans right into the soup. No need to use another pan.

This is my go to for Chops. Only thing different is I use mustard instead of egg wash to make the crumbs stick. This might be my daughters favorite meal. Melt in your mouth, one pan goodness with mashed potatoes, a veg and some fresh bread.

Instead of covering with foil I cover with Tater Tots. Everything in one pan. I cook for about the same amount of time. Nothing like Chop-N-Tots .

Here's a easy one

Generously salt and pepper the chops. Brown them in a frypan with a little butter. When both sides are nicely browned add water just enough to keept he chops from sticking and cover. Simmer for about 40 min. Then pour a can or two of peas over the chops and add more water if necessary ( just to keep from sticking and steam the peas). Cover and simmer another 15 min. Yum (if the chops are thin you may be able to cut down the simmer time a bit).

Brine them for 2-3 hrs. then grill, regardless of thickness

1/2 C. kosher salt

1/3 C. Sugar

6-8 cups warm water to dissolve salt and sugar

Make brine in a large pot or stainless pan,add herbs and chops, let sit for 2-4 hrs. Remove, pat chops dry and grill.

We love this recipe for pork tenderloin, could easily substitute chops. Sauteed with apples and shallots, very good flavor.

Ingredients

3/8 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground coriander

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 pound pork tenderloin, trimmed and cut crosswise into 12 pieces $

Cooking spray $

2 tablespoons butter $

2 cups thinly sliced unpeeled Braeburn or Gala apple

1/3 cup thinly sliced shallots

1/8 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup apple cider

1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves

Preparation

1. Heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Combine first 5 ingredients; sprinkle spice mixture evenly over pork. Coat pan with cooking spray. Add pork to pan; cook 3 minutes on each side or until desired degree of doneness. Remove pork from pan; keep warm.

2. Melt butter in pan; swirl to coat. Add apple slices, 1/3 cup shallots, and 1/8 teaspoon salt; sauté 4 minutes or until apple starts to brown. Add apple cider to pan, and cook for 2 minutes or until apple is crisp-tender. Stir in thyme leaves. Serve apple mixture with the pork.

    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
    • The water looked and smelled disgusting with hundreds of thousands of birds sh*tting in there.  About as gross as the Salton Sea. When I duck hunted there I didn't even want to touch the water.
    • It's kinda gross with the algae in the summer but I got in it anyway.  Wanted to see the increased bouyancy at work.  You can kinda tuck yourself into a ball and you'll just float with your head above water.  When dry off you look diamond encrusted with the salt.
    • We went to the flats too. I dipped a tire on the rental car onto it just to say I’ve been there, but it was still pretty soft from winter melt. After seeing some moron in a BMW suv get dragged out of the muck I had no intention of repeating his stupidity.
    • I've been out on the flats. It's like being on a different planet
