Sherman
I'm looking to buy a bottle of Seafoam for my SM. Just want to know which bottle would be the best option if I'm going to mix it in the gas mixture? What would be the right way of mixing it in gas? I would like to hear what other's direction on "how to". I have leaking from the yellow compression botton so was thinking Seafoam will do the trick. It leaks only when starting/choking auger. Or is the leaking a different problem? My gas mixture also have amsoil in it and runs pretty good. Just thinking it may be a carb cleaning. gunner55
We use the motor treatment in every motor we run at the lake, we mix 1oz/1gal but directions say as much as 2/1.Works for us as a stabilizer too.
NKLCOLT1911
just the regular motor treatment 1oz/ gal but you can not over do it by adding to much you are just waisting it more or less, as far as how to add it i would just dump some in the tank and shake it to mix it them let it idle for a bit, this is how i winterize/summerize all my stuff and have always had them start in the spring, i also use it as a fuel stabilizer. gill man
Yup, the motor treatment is the one you want for adding to the gas. I don't own a Strikemaster so I'm not that familiar with them, but I'm not sure how this will help anything that has a leak? The Sea Foam will stabilize your gas and should help clean some gummy/dirty stuff from carb, fuel lines etc. Just my guess that maybe you have a seal that went bad or something causing the leak?Anyway, running the Sea Foam can't hurt. I don't run it all the time but dump a little in my boat, ATV, power auger, snow blower, truck now and then just as a little preventative maintenance. When added up to the full recommended amount in my truck I get better gas mileage with that particular tank. I don't think it was enough of an increase to pay for the Sea Foam to do it every time but it did seem to make a slight difference.Tucker
CaptainMusky
I am thinking the "leaking" you are seeing is excess fuel coming out the decompression button.Adding seafoam will not by itself help this situation. You need to switch the oil you are mixing with the fuel to a synthetic or an ashless type.Lots of guys have great luck with Amsoil products, but I have been using the Stihl synthetic (has stabilizer in it) and it works perfect. If you want to add seafoam to your gas it is the motor treatment, but only put a couple ounces in a gallon of gas. Sherman
Thanks guys will be getting the motor one. As for the leak, it leaks only cus the button doesn't pop back out and ill have to pull it out. Any one have a similar issue like this? Will the compression button be the problem? If so, where can i find/buy one and cost? And the oil mix is 80/1 which seems fine with auger with no smoke. Thanks Guys
Pooh
I would house it down with carb cleaner and work the button while blowing it off with an air compressor
benbosh
You can also take that compression valve off with a crescent wrench to clean it too. It is threaded just like a spark plug.
