speaking of transducers...

OK, I'm going to expose my lack of electronics knowledge here....:) My old fl8 still does the job for me, and because I mostly ice fish up at the cabin on Red lake I don't see the need for anymore. Except...

Seems to me I'd benifit from a wider cone angle. I have no idea what the angle is on the one I have (whatever it came with 12 yrs ago) but since I'm fishing in 7-12 or so ft of water, wouldn't a wide cone help me?

So...are there choices available? I'd much sooner buy a new transducer for the fl8 if possible, but seeing as it's getting old I'd consider a new unit as well if there was a solid reason to do so.

My2cents would be to go to the Vexilar HSOforum and watch the videos on the transducers. they will give you all the info on ducers you could ever need. It is nice to have a Vex as the ducers made today will work on your FL8.

OK, i did some poking around the Vex site. Helpful, but I still tend to listen more to other fisherman than the company:)

So my question...for strictly shallow water fishing, is there a better transducer for my Vex?
