new spearing lake

A buddy of mine and I are thinking we want to go exploring and try some new lake here next weekend. Does anybody have any lakes they would recommend that are pretty clear with decent numbers? I do not need monster sized fish but just like to get some action. We were considering Cass, Winnie, or something in the Brainerd lakes area but I have not done any of those before (other then third water flowage on winnie) so just curious if anybody would recommend any of them or if any of you have other ideas. Thanks much.

cas and winnie are good options. trick is finding a good spot. i've heard that the slimers in in kind of a jan funk right now.

as far as the branierd area i have heard the whitefish chain is good.
