I think Gps would be nice...That said I have no issues purchasing a multi use unit like the 597 from bird to cover the gps and have as a backup/extra

My LX7 works flawlessly no problems here! its last years model and after the initial update it worked perfect and now all the updates are doing for me is improving a unit that already works well.

This might be a dumb question but with the lx6 and lx7 when you switch transducers for summer fishing can you still use it in flasher mode to see your jig and fish?

Yes you can. I used it in the fall with the high speed transducer and it was great. Made me glad I bought the unit and was able to use it for both hard and soft water.

I got mine straight from Marcum. It is the same one for the LX5

I used mine from my old lx-3 I was told it wouldn't work from a retailer but it worked great!

How does the thickness of the lines compare from the 5 to the 6 and 7?

I would love to hear how they all compare for those that have used the lx-5 and the lx-6 or 7. I am looking at getting into one of these in the next few days and just cannot make up my mind. I love the crisp lines on the 5 and I'm just curious if the 6 and 7 have the same crisp quality to them.

i never owned a 5. but if your decided between a 6 or 7 and if you can afford the 7. GO WITH THE 7! Gives you the opportunity to upgrade to the 9 if ever wanted.... also has a bigger screen and easier to read if in a boat... but those are just my opinions.

Watched video on the 7 and you can change thickness of your bait with target features. I also love the 5 and will be getting a 7 next year if all goes.
