Jari Razskazoff
Any ideas on how this impending cold front will effect inland lake opener for lakers browns and rainbows?
magic_minnow
I recall a few years back...it was -30 on opener, and I counted about 20 shacks only versus 100000 on a usual opener. Fishing was good but to answer your question, i've done better on colder days/cold fronts for trout. Thats just me.
TroutYammer
When a cold front hits I take off the walleye rigs and put on the northern rigs or the rainbow trout rigs. This really does work for open water but ia am still collecting data for hard water season. Just not enough personal data to prove it yet....just started hard water fishing for rainbow a bout three years ago.
Deet
Any ideas on how this impending cold front will effect inland lake opener for lakers browns and rainbows? I came to this forum to ask the exact same thing, but then saw this thread.Forecast shows 18F at sunrise, and dropping down to 8 by noon with 20 mph wind for Saturday. It seems the front as actually arriving early morning and sets in by mid-afternoon.I'm a firm believer that when you get the chance to fish, you fish, and wotry to adjust to the weather, moon, etc. while you're out. I'm not one who can pick and choose which days/times I'll go fish. Still, I am just curious about what the skilled, experienced laker fishermen are expecting. Particularly for the Arrowhead region. The last two openers were cloudy with mild wind, and both were good for me.
