ICE_TEAM_DREAMER
I am running an older Lazer with the Tecumseh motor and Amsoil. What octane gas should I be running in it for best performance? I apologize if this has been covered before.
Rick G
91-93 premium grade, non oxygenated gas will work fine.
HardwaterHero
Only the high end grades. This will cause less wear on your carb due to the dilution of the lower grade fuels. Also try and use fresh gas from year to year. Old gas accumulates water over time and causes havoc on your engine.
hydro
In reality the the octane number of available gasolines has nothing to do with how a little low compression Tecumseh motor will run. As a matter of fact it will probably run better on a lower octane fuel which burns faster under compression. The reason this question comes up so often is more closely related to the fact that here in the Midwest most fuel is blended with ethanol and those fuels will tend to break down sooner than the straight gasoline fuel sold as "Non-Oxy Premium" (typically 91 octane). If you go through the fuel and do not store the fuel for long periods (read: over the Summer) The bottom line is use whatever fuel that you like during the Winter as you will see no discernable difference in performance, and for storage fill and run some non oxygenated fuel with a stabilizer through the motor before putting it away.
