Still looking for a used plow setup for my dodge.

1. What is your opinion on the best plow setup for strictly personal use on my country yard and driveway? I have a couple hundred feet through the woods then it opens up to a large open area and a field road about a couple hundred yards long.

2. Will putting a plow on void my warranty?

3. Any other ideas or advice?

I do not remember exactly what you had for a truck, but as far as plows go... its really a ford chevy dodge issue... all about the same money, all have pros, all have cons... if you are just doing a driveway, I would consider a straight 7 1/2 or 8 foot western uni mount. I would also consider the rubber bottomed wings for this reason, it makes it REALLY nice for widening out the road without chewing up to much sod, and also helps carry the blade a bit when you are pushing on to grass or on gravel... you can set the rubbers down a hair and it will help float the blade a bit...

A half ton truck, i would also look into the snow dog poly plow...

A Blizzard plow may also be a bit more economical...

IME a trip edge plow isn't AS nice on gravel... but it is what I have and it does work OK, But the full trip plows worked nicer I THINK.

I had a 06 2500 CTD Ram and had a 8 ft western poly I bought off of the bay assemblied and installed my self I got a smoking deal from a company in IL they missed priced so they caught it before shipping and worked a deal with me anyhow but I payed $3500 and took me about 7-8 hours to install and assemble after work a couple nights great plow but if I were to do again I think I'd get a V plow but its not a must check the local dealers for carry overs or slightly used ones

The real wear and tear on the truck comes "mostly" from traveling. So if you are only going to use it on your farm with minimal travel then the size isn't as important.

If you get the 8' with wings, then you are going to put that much less travel into it per snow fall compared to a 7 1/2'.

Resale down the road would probably be better for an 8'.

As for warranty goes: The guys at the dodge dealers never turned down any of my work for warranty with just the plow mount on. (I have a BOSS Poly Pro 8' so just the mounting brackets under truck are visible when plow is off)

They said if I came in with the plow attached it might be a different story. OR if I had my business plastered on the side of the truck. Other than that there should be no worries.

For simply personal use, I would choose the plow that has a dealer the closest to you for picking up parts and fluid etc.
