Waypoints to Garmin

I have a garmin nuvi with lake master chip. What is the best way to take waypoints from the computer and upload them to the garmin? Are there any free downloadable programs that would help in this process?

GPS Babel is a good free one.

Your Garmin unit likely came with it's own software that can do it... I know mine did, MapSource if I remember correctly.

When you say you have them in the computer, are they in a .gpx format? or do you have them typed up in a document or something like that?

Basecamp should do the job, I use GPSTrackmaker and EasyGPS often too, all of those are free.
