ION-Will it reopen holes?

I would like to hear from anyone that has used their ION, not everyone that just got them. I have a permanent house and after lots of Strikemaster blades I'm scared to death of trying anything but a chipper blade. Did any of you use an ION last year for reopening holes in a permanant house? Of coarse the factory says yes, but they would.

You two made me go back and check my spelling. I have a brand new, never been used Jiffy 9inch propane I think I'll take a $100 kicking on and go for the ION if it will reopen HOLES. wink

My buddy just bought an ION this year. The ice in old holes hasn't been thick enough to put it to a real test like it will get in mid-January, but the holes I did reopen with 1"-2" of ice in them, it worked just fine. Like I said, I am not sure this really 'tests' the hole re-opening ability of the ION, but its the best I could do for you from my experience this early in the season. Hope it helps.

the ION is brand new this year and was not out last year so this will be the first season for people that bought the ION. The reviews on reopening holes will come at the end of this season.

There were a lot more of them out on the ice last year than you may think. This is one time I wouldn't mind hearing from a rep. Any of you regular eskimo users with the Quantum blades have any problem reopening frozen holes? They all have that ring around the bottom of the drill, is that what keeps the blades from losing pitch like the Strikemasters do?
