mwalleye
Looking to run wires through my otter square frame tubes and not sure if I want to drill in the frame or run wires outside and zip tie I am worried about over time that the frame will crack? MNCPRGUY
I zip tied my wires on the outside of poles last year in my JM Thermal X. Worked OK but I drilled my poles this year and like it much better. It's a cleaner look and if anything, the wires will take less abuse than being on the outside. Not sure about your square poles, but I only drilled 1/4" holes and put a small rubber grommet in them to protect the wires.
mwalleye
Ya thanks for the info. I would like to run them in the poles but I'm worried that over time it may weaken the poles from wind when set up and pushing and pulling during set up. JigginIsLife
Im not real sure on the house's specifics but i had an older clam flip over style and i ran the wires inside of the extending poles , the fact that the poles were telescoping poles caused the wires on the inside to get cut up when putting up and down the poles.. not sure if this applies to you but beware of that. marine_man
I used some old vehicle charger cell phone cords and soldered my wires to the coiled portion... which stretches and retracts when extending or retracting the poles and have had very good luck with this.marine_man
BartmanMN
At first I drilled holes in mine, but the when you collapse the poles it was difficult since the wire would bunch up. Now I use the old Cell phone cord (curly one) like mentioned above and it uncoils as you expand the poles. I have it attached on the side of pole, not in it, and it is much better. Can collapse my house all the way again.
Fishin4fun_MN
I ran mine inside on my Otter until I collapsed the poles and cut on. Then I ran them outside with zip ties and velcro straps. it is still clean, but not like if it was inside.
