Grouse hunting around Mille Lacs

Is there any good public land around the east side of Mille Lacs for grouse hunting. I have the itch to get out and get a couple of birds and might be up at the cabin this weekend. Was just wondering if there are a couple areas a guy could target around there.

Check out mn dnr HSOforum, they have list of public land you can hunt. I believe there are couple of lands south of Mille lacs.

There are thousands of acres of tax forfeited lands in Aitken County and State Forest lands in Kannabec and Aitken County.

But my guess is that you're going to have more chances at grouse than pheasants that far north.
