Nebraska Deer

Anyone been down and had any luck? getting pumped for the muzz. season

We (my son and I) hunted the bow and rifle season with plans to hunt the muzzy season as well. So far my son has taken 2 adult does and one 3 1/2 yr old 9 point. We hunt private land in eastern NE and the deer numbers are way down from what we've seen in the past. Where in the state will you be hunting?

Went down go SW part of NE. During rifle the rut was on. Heard parts of state the deer are being nocked off in large numbers by blue tongue.

My family has property along the Platte River in Eastern Nebraska and the deer were nearly wiped out by EHD in their area. Not uncommon to see more dead deer than live ones in their area. Really a shame....

Will be hunting knox county, public land. I heard about the EHD. We went down to scout in september and could smell the dead deer when we would drive past the dried up creek beds

we hunted an area se of North Platte. we had never been there, but we expected to see deer. We had to put on many miles and knock on a lot of doors to get on some animals, even though we had about 5 sections of private (we hunted this first, but no deer, sign, or any activity).

I expect that area also was hit rather hard by the disease. The extremely dry summer didn't yield much for cover/food and water for that fact in the hills, also partially why we couldn't find animals.

Yet the turkeys were all over and my son had a great time going after those.
