MuleShack
Seen a bunch of stuff like this out in SD this year. Mainly in the NE section. Is this area newly designated or how are they planting crops in an area like this. I spent a lot of time driving this year, and found spots that were marked but nothing to hunt. Just curious how something like this exists.

aquafang
Yea. Use to be that these areas could not be altered by the owner. Now some of these areas can be planted by the farmer and get money from the state or gov't. i dont know all the details but some of it is a joke. carpshooterdeluxe
Looks like a newly purchased WPA? The feds usually don't seed grass over harvested corn, so it may be another growing season (soybeans) before they seed it. Hard to say; you could call the F&W service regional office and ask about the parcels in question.
MuleShack
I'm not that concerned about it being i'm only in SD a couple days each year to hunt.I was just curious if some others knew what might be up with it. (And More so why it would be listed on the map)It was more frustrating to target something on the map, drive a half hour to get there and find nothing to hunt...then have to drive another half hour to another spot.
