What's on the menu for Thanksgiving this year?

I just get so disgusted watching people pile, literally, huge mounds of turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy and stuffing on their plates. I love food and eating but that's just gross. We are hosting Christmas this year and I'm told by the MIL to make ham because its cheap, traditional, and what people like. Yuck. Not to be a downer, but I'd to have some lasagna instead like some of my Italian colleagues!
I hope to gross you out then tomorrow.

Peatmoss, thanks for the laugh.

We are having crab legs today. A few of us grilled 69 turkeys at my former work place last week to feed four shifts of employees, plus a turkey dinner at my sister in law's last Saturday. You might say I am turkeyed out....

To all my fellow muzzleloader hunters, good luck and hunt safe next week.

25 people at my house right now, and I had to sneak into my man cave to decompress for a few minutes. Been hard at cooking since about 8 this morning. My brother in law and I are in charge of the turkeys (2 22 pounders) and my niece's husband is a chef from Argentina who made a corn souffle that might be the best thing I've ever eaten that didn't have bacon in it... I'm getting the recipe, and I'll share it here, because it's fantastic.

Couple new things this year. I volunteered to cook sweet potatoes this year, so no brown sugar and marshmallow sugary gloppy nightmares. Steamed them, and mashed them with a little chopped up Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, and a couple teaspoons of the sauce itself. Awesome counterpoint to all the sweet stuff - a little spicy, a little smokey. Good stuff.

Time for dessert - happy thanksgiving everyone.

Cheers,

RK

If you are hosting, then you are in charge of the cooking.......Lasagna it is then

My MIL has learned to stay out of my kitchen, maybe yours does too?

Yeah, my MIL is pretty nice otherwise and a great cook, just opinionated about certain things like that so I make concessions if I feel like its appropriate. I'm thinking about a small ham (for those who wont eat anyting else) and something else unique for Xmas. My wife always wants me to slow cook pulled pork on the Weber for family gettogethers, which is killer and people seem to love. But I want to try something else too. I make a mean cornish hen and might do hen halves filled with a good dressing instead. Easy to serve too! Can't wait for the Xmas thread to start.
