Dahitman44
So I am looking at can am -- I have an 04 400 sportsman and is is seriously underpowered on the lake pulling my wheelhouse ... What size would you guys get? Any experience?my 400 has on 24 hp I think ...500, 650 800?
Dave S
Do you prefer a sit down or SXS? Budget? For pulling a wheelhouse I would go with as big as you can within your budget. There's replacement for displacement. Seriously though i would go with a minimum of 650cc.
BobT
You mean it literally can't pull the house to the point you will kill the engine trying? If it's a traction issue, bigger won't help since they are all about the same weight and more power doesn't mean better traction.I previously had a 300 Kawasaki and could pull a two wheel trailer loaded until it arched with rocks on a plowed field. I have used it to pull a 300 bushel gravity box to my neighbor's so he could use it. Empty of course but that wagon weighed in excess of 1,200 lbs. I have used it to pull my 2cu.yd. ground-driven manure spreader full of moist heavy horse manure. I should think if my 300 prairie could do this, it would certainly handle a fish house. Dahitman44
The dealer is going to throw me a crazy price on a 1,000 CC -- holdover that is cheaper than the 800 ... I am thinking I might do it. It is the right color even!
toughguy
I think I remember reading something about trail rules for 1000's. Like they we're allowed on state trails? I might be wrong though. Might be something to consider before pulling the trigger on it.
fishing tech
Get an extra gas can to carry along. My 800 guzzles it down. I wish I would have got another 500.

DRH1175
What did you get 1000 what. don't kill yourself. I drove my neighbors 900 polaris and I thought I was going to kill myself with how much power it has. How big is your wheel house?

CANOPY SAM
I would've recommended a 750. More than enough power to do anything you want, or need to, and not too terrible on fuel. Not exactly a racing machine, as mentioned above, they're made for work. Astounding power! That 1000 is going to be THE BOMB! Don't think it would be beyond pulling a car out of the ditch!
