Avalanche vs. Tahoe?? Deciding between the two

Recommended Posts

I am looking at 2 vehicles, hoping to buy one this weekend and can't decide which one. One is an 04 Avalanche with 133k, leather, remote start, and sunroof. The other is a 05 Tahoe Z71 with 141k, leather and sunroof. Both have good tires and are in excellent condition, the price on them is about the same, the Tahoe would run $400-500 less than the avalanche. Anyone have any input or advice on which is the better vehicle?? It will mostly be used for pulling a boat, winter driving, ice fishing, and pheasant hunting. Thanks

I've had 3 Tahoes and now own an Avalanche. For my current lifestyle the Avalanche is a better fit for me. When I still had kids at home the Tahoe was more geared for what I needed then. You'll get similar mileage and performance with either but the Avalanche seems more stable towing a load behind it due to the longer wheel base.

I've had a 99 and an 05 Tahoe. Both worked well for me. The 99 was a puller due to the 3.73 rear end. The 05 would occasionally down shift but the mileage when not towing was better. I bought an 11 Silverado new and I miss the enclosed security of the Tahoe but really like the truck. Can't say much about the Avalanche other than I didn't care for the looks.
