Stealthcam Predator owners

Recommended Posts

I recently bought one from a MN catalog sportsman company. When I opened the box it had no owners manual and looked like it was a refurb. model. I don't have a problem with that because of the price I paid. My issue is the camera triggers about every minute. This is my first trail cam so I have nothing to compare it with but it seems extra sensitive. I lowered the pic quality and only have it taking 3 burst shots but it fills up in about 8 hours.

Anyone know what I can do? The online manual shows no sensitivity settings for this model. There is also a rubber tipped button? in the top front of the unit. It seems like a button but doesn't seem to do anything and once again the manual says nothing about it.

Is it triggering because of movement or on its own? If you put in a room facing a wall where there is no movement does it still take pics? Or are you trying it outside where every moving piece of grass is setting it off? If doing so with no movement, it is either a faulty camera or you may have it on some kind of plot watcher mode. I would go to the stealth HSOforum and see if you can find a manual for it. Of all the cams I have worked with stealth is the least user friendly. You can also google common problems for that model and see if anything comes up or contact stealth directly using the number off the HSOforum. Cheaper cameras are just that, cheap. They can be a pain, but they can also be very good too. I run cameras similar in price and probably average about 3 years of use before something goes wrong.

Hoggsback,

I just received a new one yesterday via UPS after sending my other one back as it would not work with batteries after 3 months. The new one I received was in a box wrapped in bubble wrap with no manual. I felt like mine also appeared refurbished or something. I will try it out tonight to see how it works but I bought it brand new directly from them. Call StealthCam and they will set you up. Their customer service was great when I dealt with them. Their tech guys know what they are doing and can hopefully help.

I do have an SD card in it. I am trying it outside where there are leaves and wind, but this seems really sensitive. Maybe it is just that way, I don't know, so I was hoping others who have this model could chime in.

I have the manual from their HSOforum and it shows no setting adjustments for sensitivity. I will call the company and see what they say.

I'm guessing this is just a cheap model camera although I am really happy with the picture quality, both day and IR.
