Greg Clusiau
I've been up in this area, fishing more locally for crappies and "back in the bush" for lakers at one of the outposts. Great accomodations and great people to work with.

knoppers
IF I could come up, I would. canada won't let me in, I had 2 DWI's 25 years ago, in my studid years. we had been going to andy lake resort for the last 30 years, untill they decided to close for winter season, (owners semi-retired), we fished mostly lakers, snowmobiled to these lakes, like dryberry, hilllock, winage and bibbi and also would do a trip with the resort owner to lake of the woods for crappie and walleye. I know my buds still would like to make it up there to do this, I will let them know that your resort is open in winter, I just wish I could go with them. If all you have is two DWI's from 25 years ago and nothing on your record since, you'd have a pretty strong case for rehabilitation in the eyes of the Canadians. Have you tried going through the rehabilitation process? If not, you've probably been missing out for the last 15 years. A lot of times if you can make it 10 years that's enough to show them you've been rehabilitated, especially for relatively minor crimes like DWI's. If you have tried before and been denied, it might be worth trying again. The Canadians are beginning to relax their admission policies due to complaints from the tourism industry. knoppers
from what I heard, I must submit to a application process, which intails lots of paper work and lots of running around for me, then when done, I have send this in with a check for 200 bucks. and this still does not get me in, I must be approved, and if not, I loose the 200 bucks. either way, if I do get the pass, I believe its only good for 5 years, then I have to do it all over again, and yes another 200 bucks.I have been going up there every year till about 5 years ago, when they checked me. they let me in that year, I did have to pay 200 bucks to enter, but I did get in that year. superbee
No problem, I know more people were reporting better border crossing experiences this past year. You can also contact the Fort Frances Canadian Customs Immigration office at 807-274-3655 or 807-274-3815 for current rules and any questions concerning admissibility, especially a good idea if this is the crossing you will be using. magnum mike
Lucas, have you found the crappies this year?
superbee
I personally have not, I target the lakers when I am going out or walleyes. I prefer catching 1 hard fighting lake trout over a limit over of panfish. Have had few guys up and they found them. On occassion, they had better luck on the outlying lakes.
