I expected better than this after almost 400 miles.

I made a trip to Sherburn NWR yesterday hoping to capture something new. Actually, I did get a couple new subjects, just not what I was hoping for. Although I didn't see a lot, I'll certainly be going back. I've been to quite a few National Wildlife Refuges and this one tops the rest. The refuge definitely holds the critters I'm looking for, but with hunting going on in the area, I'm guessing they only come out after dark. There was sign on all the roads and trails. This refuge has the wetlands, hardwood forests and prairie areas. I did see plenty of waterfowl including cranes and swans plus eagles and 3 different hawk varieties. But, getting up st 4:30 a.m. isn't easy.

I did a 400 miler last winter one day to Sax Zim bog and got my first pic of a boreal chicadee and a great jay. long drive for a couple pics. :>)
