H0LE HOPPER
Who would i have to call if a lake is open to the public. I checked on the Dnr HSOforum at the lake i want to access and it said there was a "non designated public access that bisects the lake". So i interpreted that it was just an unmarked access and took my canoe out there to go scouting next thing i know i had a landowner at my house saying i cant be over there? I dont see why not other than this access deal, everything else checked out so im guessing they just dont want people hunting it? Any info would be helpful! BrdHunter01
If it is a public access or the lake can be accessed via carry-on from public road you can hunt it as long as its not with-in a city or county that doesn't allow hunting. Kettle
I talked to the DNR this fall on a similar situation, both a CO and Wildlife. If there is a road that buts up to the edge of the water you can launch off of it only if it is a county road (tared with a county road number sign) if it is dirt it is more than likely a township road and thus someone owns to the middle of it and it is an easment so you cannot launch there.Kettle
rbs
They are only partly right on the county roads. I am not sure on every county in the state but I know alot of the ones in the sw part of the state only buy easements and do not "own" the ROW. Tom7227
Care to share the name of the lake so we could look at maps we may have?
