tybo
I shoot B&P Classic in #6 for early season and B&P Long Range in #5 for late season. I love B&P ammo. The Long Range is 1 1/4 oz Nickel plated load that costs about $12.60/box when you get a flat. They have free delivery and will typically have it to your door in a few days. I know some like to buy some loads because money is given to PF for them and I get that but I would rather buy the Long Range and give $10 to the PF Build a Wildlife Area. I'm not sure but I will bet that $10 is more than Federal gives PF for a flat.
veximan
Prairie storm hits hard and I use it, but 4's are overkill for early season birds. I don't need that till later when the birds are spooky and I want more down range energy. 14.99 for prairie storm is a great price though buys those if you still can, 6's are my choice. Ditto! That is a great price! Normal $20/box. I got the 4 box case last year for $60 and was pretty proud of that find. #5s or #6s early season. #4's for late season. You'll be impressed! CodyDawg
Federal Premium Lead 1 3/8 oz #5s at 1500 fps are the load of choice for my Dad, brother and myself. being the anal engineer that I am, I log all of our pheasant kills and I wont bore you with the details, but suffice it to say they have performed extremely well on over 500 wild pheasant kills dating back about about 15 years. This year I missed the first week and a half of the season while elk hunting so our numbers are down, but so far we have 14 1-shot kills and 1 1-shot that the dog found that wasnt killed.I like the Federal Black cloud for the steel alternative. I only shot Federal and couldnt be happier.
SunnyFishin
+3 on Fiocchi Golden Pheasant. Had problems with 2nd barrel not firing on my Ruger Red Label with the Prairie Storm. Not sure why or if its shell related. Had GM go thru the gun but will stick with Fiocchi from now on. +4 on the Golden Pheasant. They make a fantastic product, I in turn use their Hi-Lite 2 3/4 #8s for dove, and they are without question the best shell I've plunked for that (shooting a Vinci). PurpleFloyd
My son and I each bought a box of Golden Pheasant this year to try out since they were on sale at Dunhams for 7.99 a box but we have decided that we prefer the Federals and will be going back to them the next time we go out.
