HOGEYE
I have an Arctic Cat 440 fan cooled Panther (electric start/rev) 1994 or 95. If I hit the throttle hard, it bogs down. ALso it bogs whenever I try to floor it for that matter. I replased the plugs and that didn't help. It has a single carb. Thinking carb, but I just had it gone through a couple months ago and they said it was clean. Any ideas?
Guest
i have a 93 cat ext550, that did the same thing, i'll tell you right now, it's probably the clutch. i had to have mine rebuilt a few months ago, and since i still rode it when the engine bogged, the whole clutch assembly except for the plates were shot and it cost me over 500 dollars, so get it fixed sooner than i did. hope this helps
HOGEYE
When I had it in , I had them look at the clutch as well and they said that it was in good shape. I've only ridden it a few times since. Could it be that a float is stuck?
Guest
Check all of your fuel lines and fuel filters. I had this same problem with my machine a couple years ago and there was a pin hole in my gas line.
HOGEYE
I'll pull out the carb and clean it.
Guest
No, I doubt the float is stuck. The engine wouldn't run at all on that single carb if that was the case. I'd first say bad fuel. I have over a year old fuel in my sled and it does the same thing, but then after a second of bogging it kicks into gear and away it goes.I'd say the needles in the carbs need adjusting (rich/lean), main jet plugged, and/or cleaning the entire carb in soaking solution. Carbs are very fussy. That machine is really simple to work on too (I used to have the identical sled). I've got a case of a bad fuel pump and fuel filter on another sled. I'm waiting for parts. Good luck!
HOGEYE
I'm kind of hesitant to pull out the carb. I have never really messed with one before. I was thinking about running some sea foam with the gas first. Does this seem like a good idea?
HOGEYE
I mixed some sea foam with the gas and it didn't help. As far as cleaning a carb goes, what is the first step.

HOGEYE
I forgot to post back. I took off the carb and it was rattling. I opened it up and the main jet and fuel cup had came loose and was rattling around. Easy fix! Thanks everyone for your replies.
