electrical question??

Recommended Posts

I have a 01 2500hd silverado with a 6.0l engine in it. A month ago I went out to go fishing and it was dead. Replaced battery since it was 6 years old and it was good. So today I go out and its is dead. Metered it and it is stone dead. Get it jumped and take it to get the battery and charging system checked and they test out good.

I drove it a week ago and it was fine. Something is draining it but how do you go about finding what it is. This is cutting into my fishing time(arghhhh).

I'm leaving my course of action to the automotive experts of HSO

Thanks Brian

Had an issue on an 04 like this a while back. Turned out to be the instrument cluster was not powering down all the time when the key was turned off. Ended up sending the cluster out for repair and he has had no problems since.

I think I found the problem. It appears my kids were playing in the truck and hit a button for aux lamps. The truck doesn't have aux lamps so I didn't even think about that.

Found that it leaves a indicator light on when I went out to unhook the battery charger that night.

Thanks guys for the ideas.
