Just found out I got drawn for a West River deer tag for this fall. I have been trying now for 3 years to get out there. Always have wanted to shoot a Muley, and looks like I will have the opportunity this fall to at least chase some! Super pumped, can't get to November soon enough!!!

I'll be joining you! I've drawn every year since 1993, all as a resident until 2002. Then I switched to the any anterless option so that I can continue to hunt with mom and dad each year. It's very much a social hunt for us, but also a meat hunt. We have yet to leave open tags in the almost 20 years I've been going along. My parents have been hunting the same ground since the early 1970s. Unit 58A

No west river tag for me this year. That's twice in three years I have no been able to draw.

I have to look into it but but my buddy called me from Doland and just told me the odds we even get anterless permits is slime as they cut east river tags by 6000!

This sucks.

Should have a good chance at one then. Have a buddy that ranches just east of Winner and he usually shoots either a nice muley or whitetail every year.

I really can't understand why they cut the east river tags, if anything I think they should increased the amount of tags. Seems like there are deer everywhere.

I totally agree with you creepworm but this is goverment we are talking about I guess.

Thats what I like to hear creepworm. I hunt in Northern MN, and my biggest buck is not even considered nice in open country. Really looking forward to the whole experience, and if a big whitetail jumps out on me, he may be in a world of hurt. My true goal is to get a nice muley though, always wanted to shoot one.
