Moultrie i40 Error Questions

I have 5 i40's and one of them isn't functioning as intended.

I can't get one of them to take picutres. When I try deleting the internal memory I get a "REDO" error. I also can't get into it via my laptop and USB cable. The camera also has a slow response when cycling through the menus.

I've gotten 000480, 020000 and 024000 errors along the way. I've tried pulling the batteries and reseting them to my best of knowledge but still can't get it to function right.

My next step is to get in touch with Moultrie, but because the cameras are considered discontinued I'm not counting on a lot of help. Does anyone have prior experience with these errors?

I have one and my whole screen went out I didn't use mine very long kinda bummed.

So I got in touch with Moultrie customer service. They were courteous and prompt, I was actually pretty impressed after reading a few sub-par reviews.

Long story short, it would cost more to fix my camera than buy a new one. They offered a deal to buy a i45 for $80 before shipping and tax since the i40 is past its warranty and has been discontinued. After doing an online search it looks like I can get them for that price new anyways. Not much of a deal.

A couple thoughts - are there any experts out there that might be able to fix a camera like this for cheap? Of course if it doesn't make economical sense it's not worth is but it seems to be kind of a waste just to toss it in the trash.

I also learned that you can do a hard reset on the i40's by pulling the batteries with the power switch off, and then move the power switch to on without the batteries for 2 minutes or more. Unfortunately it didn't do much for me.

Toss it into your 'dead camera pile', I have three in mine with a fourth about ready to join it, the display is going out.

Considering how cheap the low end cameras are nowadays, no sense throwing good money at a bad camera.

It does seem like a waste to toss a camera that could maybe be easily fixed... but I figure they go from 100 degrees above to -40 below taking thousands of pics over a couple years hopefully. I hate to loose one, but the $150 or whatever seems like a small price to pay for the amount of enjoyment ive gotten out of it!

Ive got a cupboard full of the original Cuddeback Experts and the 35mm CamTrackers from back in the early 2000's, all junked! Those were all $450 a pop! It makes me sick But its been fun
