Deadly Sandbars can be dangerous

Sandbar safety,

A friend of mine went under water for half a block when the edge of a sand bar unexpectedly broke off under his weight. It threw him into current and he was lucky to touch bottom so he knew which way was up. He thought he was done for.

Years ago we were going along downstream on the Mississippi by Red Wing on the Wisconsin side when all of a sudden the boat comes to a complete stop and we were slammed up against the windshield in a quick minute! Looking over the side of the boat we see we are in about 2 inches of water and had no clue the sand bar was there. Took a while to get that big fiberglass boat off the sandbar!DOH! shocked
