pikerliker
I've never caught a smallmouth in my life. I'm heading to Mille Lacs next week with my son. I know that they are in there and wouldn't mind chasing some for a change up from the eye's at least one day. What type of techniques do you use for smallies? Is it similiar to eye's, do they hang in similar areas? Any help is appreciated. Thanks
bassfshin24
I would head to the SE end and fish the rocks. There are some shallow rocks. Throw lipless cranks, cranks, spinnerbaits over them. Find some of the deeper rocks and drag a tube across them. Enjoy!
fischer69
Pound for pound, one of the best fighters out there. You don't need to even go as far as Mille Lacs, there are tons of them in the Mississippi. I'd rather catch a smallie than a wally any day. If early in the morning, I've have good luck with topwaters that make a lot of noise like a "Woodchopper" in the shallows & shade & everything Bassfshin24 said. Have fun & good luck. bklimek
Was on Mille Lacs Sunday chasing smallies. What's with the green slime on the rocks? Is this a result of the zebra mussels? Rain/Runoff? Warmer weather?Note: There were a lot of bass fisherman out Sunday!!
