Jameson
Ya, I knew throwing that 80 degree thing out there was sort of a stretch. But I would bet that those who are very experienced will limit there shooting during the warm times compared to when it's below freezing out when you know there will not be meat spoilage. ...Without a doubt, at least 50% of deer hunters are not "cut out" to have a weapon in thier hands PERIOD! We both agree there. But they are still going to hunt. And they are going to hunt the season that they perceive as better. So, would you rather have those hunters blast through a shoulder with a high powered rifle or have them lob an arrow 45 yards and have it hit shoulder bone? Or say they do make a kill shot...would you rather have them give up on a 1/2 mile blood trail or find the deer within 50 yards? I say encourage everyone to be firearms hunters. It's the easiest. (no one going to argue that it's more difficult are you?) Leave the archery season to those only who are dedicated to it. If we move the firearm season back at least make it so that only antlerless may be hunted prior to firearms season. That will protect more bucks, and keep those that aren't dedicated to bow hunting out of bow hunting. It'll also allow everyone to hunt during the rut.
