Fishaholic2011
I'm just starting to rig a boat for bowfishing carp at night. I want to get the most possible light with using the least amount of generator power. Is LED the answer or simply flood lights or what? bassman186
all depends on what your looking to spend, LED's are going to be more expensive and most guys are running these off of batteries, But halogen lights will be less expensive and most run these off of a generator. Archerysniper
A lot of the people I know that have use LED's are switching back. We use High pressure sodium flood lamps and crinkle tinfoil behind them that will stop the shadows or dark spots.
cbrunick57
Having used halogen,LEDs, and HPSH lights, the high pressures are the way to go. You do pay more up front and have to deal with ballasts and what not but the difference in performance is well worth the investment. We use a pair of Honda EU1000 genies linked together and couldn't be happier!

My tournament buddies wouldn't dream about taking up boat space that could be filled with dead fish instead...
Archerysniper
Yeah we also run 2 Generators with 10 HPSH lights. It is in a 20 foot john boat though and we have room for 4 stock tanks once those get filled then we throw them in the bottom of the boat. Powerstroke
Two 1000 watt gennies seems like a big use of space and $$$. A 2000 watt unit costs 20-30% more for nearly twice the power. The rig my buddy built runs 6 HPS lights on a Honda2000 very nicely. Its wired up really nice with a ballast box in a waterproof box. You can have a conversation on the boat while that thing is running.
cbrunick57
Agreed with all of you on the two gennies, we just got a good deal on the pair and couldn't pass it up. Its in a 18' mod. v and have never really had a space issue. If we wouldnt of struck that deal we would of gone with one.
