Depends on where you are of course, but I was on Mille Lacs 2 days ago and there were TONS of largies on beds. Go to tonka and there are TONS of postspawn fish right now. I would say overall they are post spawn, but there are exceptions.

Hey everybody! Is there already a post like this that I can't find? Maybe I just stated it. Are bass everywhere all the time or are there some big movements throughout the season and with weather changes?

Spring, or early summer you can find most of them up in the shallows, inside weedlines, or shallow weedbeds. As the year progresses, the water warms, and weeds get thicker the fish will spread out. In summer you can find them everywhere. They will use thick shallow slop, docks, weedlines, deep humps or hard bottom areas.

In the fall when the water begins to cool lots of fish will move back shallow but some can still be had deep. Keep an eye on water temp and green healthy weeds can be big factors in fall.

Weather can change a fish's location a little. Example, on a cloudy or windy day a fish may roam further out of cover to find food where as on a calm sunny day the fish will probably be in deep water or buried deep into their cover, whether its weeds, way up under a dock or anything else they are using to stay out of the sun.

Weather will also effect the fish's mood. During stable periods the fish should be in a stable feeding pattern. When a large front moves in (think dropping temp, big storms) the bigger the front usually the better the bite just before the front moves in. After a front you may encounter a slower bite.

I have not been out for a week but if I were to go out right now I would start shallow. Docks, inside weedlines, thick weed beds and work my way out to the first break if need be.

Keep learning everything you can, you can nail 'em just fine in your boat. A knowledgeable fisherman in an old lund will outfish a noob in a bass boat.

Got out with a buddy this AM and the shallow bite was still in full swing. Fish were hanging around docks and the sparse weeds in between them. Still mostly small males but a few larger fish were caught.
