Is it OK to mix non-oxy gas with regular?

So, I have a half tank of non-oxy gas from last year. I have a 17 gallon on board gas tank.

I am heading to canada soon and may bring a few 5 gallon tanks of non-oxy along but will run out and have to fill up with the resorts regular gas.

Is this an issue of any kind?

Unless your outboard is an older one and recommends a higher octane, using the oxy gas is fine. Only reason for switching is when the gas will be sitting around for an extended amount of time because the oxy gas breaks down sooner and then you can use a fuel stabilizer, Mixing would be fine.

+1 to Surface Tension. The only time it should really matter is if you aren't going to use all of the fuel before you put the boat away for the year or if it's going to sit in the tank for a while before you use the boat again.

Get some stabil marine and you should be fine.

I usually try to run a little stabil marine through my gas anyway. Even during the Summer when I am using the boat alot.

I just wasnt sure if there was a possible issue with mixing the 2 kinds of gas - so thanks!

If I know I'm going to be using the boat often I won't treat it with a stabilizer.

Another note on the oxygenated fuel use with older engines is that the fuel lines, gaskets and diaphragms, unless they have been changed they are not made ethanol resistant materials.

About a year ago or so I was watching a MN session on PBS where corn lobbyists were pushing for 15% ethanol blend. It was shot down at that time but they'll be sure to try again.

Definitely worth checking on. My instinct would say no, but I was wrong once before, back in the 80's I think it was

Yeah its always been fine to bring gas accross. Usually what is considered "personal" use for your trip. I have been bringing five 5 gallons gas containers accross for many, many years.
