A good start on this years decoy!

Here are a few pics from this years decoys. I have a frog I justed working on and will post it when I get some pics. Theses pics are about a month or two old, but I'll update them later. Just thought I'd share.

after paint not a working decoy but I traded it for a bandsaw.

The start of a gill I'm working on, these are old the gill has a ton more detail and all copper fins that I polished and patterened with a hammer on the anvil and then polished and engraved detail. I will post some pics before I seal, wt. and paint, then some of the after pics.

In this group shot there is a little decoy that will be like the trout.

Here is the gill as it is now ready to seal, wt., and paint. It also will have metal at the back of the gill plate where gills have the black spot, thats why the gills look th round now.

Let me know what you think MJ this is the one we talked about a few months ago.

A quick teaser of the decoys I'm working on now, and the pics of the frog decoy before wt. and paint.

I just noticed these are not the newest frog pics but they will do for today.

Another decoy finished, but the pics are not the best I'm some more with a better cam later. This one is for a 6 year old that just got his great grandpas spears and his Dad wants to teach him to use them, the fins are engraved with his name.

Thanks MJ, your decoy is next. My new VL3 airbrush and badger GXF has really brought my decoy's finish to the next level and saves a lot of time painting.

I would love to see that frog swimming. I saw a certain person from HSO last winter using something he called a bullhead that worked really good.

The frog gave nightmares adding lead. Its like trying to sink a surf board pushing down on the flat side. I set it with a head down feet up left turn slow swim, I think it looks like a frog going to the bottom to hide, but we'll see if the fish like this winter. Have you guys used frog decoys before and how did they swim? I went into this one guessing.

I haven't used one but it interests me. I have a regular decoy painted like a leopard frog that dealer gave me. I didn't get much chance to use it last year.

You have a very unique style of decoy, I like that. As far as frogs, its a decoy most consider the hardest to swim. Ive done it quite well here recently but ive noticed alot of guys dont use them like they used to- no idea why. Ill have some video of a frog swimming this winter should be interesting with the paint scheme I went with. Good luck with the decoys if you hae any ?'s just send me a pm.
