Charter boats during the summer

There is always obviously Mille Lacs but are there other lakes that have the charter option like Mille Lacs? A friend is looking for what options there are out there and I'm really only aware of Mille Lacs.

Really looking for the cheaper charter option rather than the personal hired guide (family with kids).

Thanks,

Erik

I know there are a lot of big charter boats that run out of Lake of the Woods. They typically run down riggers and pull rapalas later in the summer.

I've always wanted to do it, as they catch some really nice fish that way.

Zippel Bay resort on LOW has charters. I have never used them as we have our own boat. but, when I have stayed there it seems they do very well. In Spring they use jigs a lot. Obviously lots of other Charters on LOW.

All LOW resorts have charters. Not all use downriggers. This time of year just about everyone uses bait and jigs. Later in the year a lot of the resorts do use downriggers pulling plugs but some resorts stick with the bait fishing, either anchoring and jigging or pulling spinners on the reefs. Ballard's boats hardly ever down rig, only when they have to to catch fish.

Leech Lake has charters aka "Launches" out of city dock. Half day and full days. They drift with lindy rigs or jig/minnow. Best number on boat is 6 but you can squeeze another on if you ask.
