humminbird 597 ci hd di Lakemap chip ?

Bobby Bass

Question

So I installed a humminbird 597 ci hd di and for the life of me I can't get the lakemap chip to be seen by the unit. I will go and upload the unit update tomorrow and hope that is the problem but has anyone else had this problem with their unit?

I am guessing if your chip is a lake master chip you may have the lowrance version of the chip and not the humminbird version. if that is not the case check the chip it self and see if it is locked. there is a little thing on the side that locks the cards this could be a possible reason why it won't load. one other thing to try would be to go into the menu screen and do a complete factory reset on everything. I have never had any issues with my unit. once you get it working you will love the unit.

Got if figured out, not a software problem but a physical problem. For some reason the chip does not lock in place, I put a piece of rubber in so when the little door is closed it pushes the chip in all the way and now it works fine. Has me scratching my head as why the chip does not click in or is it not suppose to? Brad?

That is what I thought but the chip will not lock in place, nor will the cover depress it enough to make good contact. Something I will be sending an email to humminbird about.

send them a email. they may have you send the unit to them or you could possible take it back to where you got it and exchange it for a different one as this one is defective and should be covered under the warranty.
