Bushwacker
I'm putting in an order for a custom rod today. I am going with a St.Croix AC70HF blank. It is a 7', SCIII 12-25# blank. Do you people think this will cut it for a multi-purpose rod for small to medium bucktails and medium size muskie cranks? This is my first custom muskie rod so I want to make sure I get one that will work. Up until now I have been using a 12-30# All Star rod and also a 18-40# BPS rod. RuKiddingMe
Excellent choice on the Avid Blank. Here's my opinion, last year I had a custom built for me and I chose the 6'9"HF (heavy fast), after I recieved it and used it I really wish I would have gotten the 6'9" MHF (medium heavy fast) it would have been more versatile. The one I did get is best used as a jerk, twitch and walk the dog rod, because it's so stiff. Just my $.02, good luck with the new rod.RU[This message has been edited by RuKiddingMe (edited 05-27-2004).]
Cooter
Bushwacker - Sounds like you have one fine musky rod on the way, I'm jealous! Have fished with St.Croix premiers but never the avids. Let me know how it works out - good luck. Sat. is the musky opener and I am drooling in anticipation!
Trailblazin
That rod should do the trick! I wish I could afford the Avid series, but the Premiers have been just fine too!
