bearing grease

Did a search on bearing grease and what to use on the boat trailer bearings. I noticed that there were more people saying to use a calcium sulfonate grease for the trailer.

Can anyone put in there opinion on this. Am I going too in depth - should I just go an buy a marine grease and call it a day?

Also, I will need to get new seals when I repack the bearings. Where can I buy these? Will auto stores carry these or do I need to go to a marine shop?

Have you looked into Amsoil grease? I was thinking a synthetic grease would work better in a wet environment, but not sure. I bought my bearing seals at Northern.

napa has them just bring in the old ones they should be able to match them up. i use marine grease for my trailer

Marine grease and never any issue. Most part stores should carry the seal. I would take the old one along when you get a new one to make sure you get the correct size.
