A vague question

I was hobbling around the woods today and saw lots of birds(pictures to follow), but I saw one that I couldn't identify and was hoping somebody could point me in the right direction. There were two of these little guys. And when I say little, I mean little. They were somewhere between the size of a hummingbird and a chickadee. From what I could tell they were a charcoal color and maybe lighter on the underside. I had my camera ready, but the little buggers were just too quick to get a picture. Any ideas what to start looking for?

I'm going to go with LeeKen and say I saw a Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher. "All About Birds" describes them as "tiny bird" and "constant motion." That pretty much explains my frustration with trying to get a picture. They started out about waist level and moved quickly up the tree and then moved deeper in the woods. Thanks guys.
