Chickadee nest

I did bird house with the grandkids a year ago Christmas. Two houses had wrens and two had chickadees. We would take a peek a couple of times the kids were thrilled. They are fun to watch. Enjoy!

This is nest #2. Most like if the box is full of moss it's a chickadee. This pair pulled all of the sawdust out and filled it with moss, all in only 4 days.

Very cool. There must be a biological reason behind the use of moss....?

They also must have to gather alot more moss when they nest in a box

like this, as opposed to when they nest in a tree cavity. The tree cavity

nests I've looked into after fledging was completed, seemed much smaller

than the space in a box. Must be like living in a spacious condo, compared

to a an effeciency apartment.
